Enjoy the Vacation!

Dear Community!

Alas!  A break!  It's not my intention to take from what looks to be wonderful holiday weekend.  Allow me to share a little bit of information.  First, today marks the end of the 3rd grading quarter (can you believe it?).  You will receive a report card via mail during the week of May 5th.  Want to check your student's progress sooner?  Follow this link to set up your account in the Parent Portal.

The week we return, there are two important community events. You will receive information in the mail on both.  Quickly, Wednesday April 30th is Student Shadow Day.  Yes, we invite you to spend some or all of the school day with your student.  This is all about making connections and allowing you a window into your child's learning experience.  Thursday May 1st, is "SPEAK", the student talent show and multicultural potluck event.  This event will run from 6-8pm.  Please come!  Bring a your favorite dish.

That is all!  My best to you for a wonderful holiday weekend and April vacation.  Classes resume on Monday, April 28th.

Best,
Dr. T

Happy Friday!

Dear Community,

Happy Friday!  Spring has sprung for sure.  The warmer days bring so many wonderful things to a school campus.  A more cheerful disposition is definitely one of the benefits.  The warmer temps also have a downside.  This is the point during the year when we see attendance drop.  Your support in helping your student remain focused on and committed to their education is greatly appreciated.  Attendance matters.

Yesterday, I’m sure you received the important message from Mr. Prieto on my behalf.   I need not revisit the issue, but I want to underscore that safety is our foremost concern.  This is a situation wherein our safety protocol worked!  It is important to me that you feel connected and informed.  I welcome you to call the school (617-635-9873) and ask to speak with any administrator or me if you have questions.  We are in this together.

Next week is a short week followed by a long vacation.  By way of reminder, students are dismissed a for April vacation at dismissal on Thursday.  There is no school on Friday, April 18th.

Have a great weekend!

Best,

Dr. T

Happy Friday!

Dear Community!

Alas, I can say with confidence, “Spring is here!”  I don’t see anymore snow and my winter jacket hasn’t seen the light of day in awhile.  All very good things!  What else is good?  How about the fact that spring sports are in full swing?  It’s early, but I am already hearing good things about our spring athletes.  How about the fact that the Robotics team performed beautifully at this weekend’s competition?  How about the field trips this week – one to a Science Technology and Engineering conference and another to Bunker Hill Community College?  All good things about which you should know (but your child won’t tell you).

In addition to abovementioned happenings, another good thing is the fact that the planning for next year is already underway.  In a few short weeks, we will survey students in grades 9-11 on the courses they would like to take next year.  This is an exciting time for them and one in which you should be involved.  I will send you an official notice when that process commences.

Last, but not least, the Math MCAS is approximately one month away.  We offer a prep session for students which has shown incredible results in past years - the Pulse Program.  We need more students to take advantage.  If you have a 10th grader, please encourage him/her to consider it.  Important things like this should not be left to chance.  Guarantee it!

Have a great weekend!

Best,

Dr. T
